Why volunteer with PBSC?

PBSC has Chapters in virtually every law school in Canada. Our approach is both responsive and visionary: we work to close the justice gap today, while cultivating future pro bono thought leaders and champions across the country.

Our student-led Chapters pair motivated law students with local non-profit and community organizations to provide free legal support to people and communities facing barriers to justice. This includes research, public legal education, court assistance and legal clinics for unbundled or discrete issues. Our students work under the supervision of qualified, insured lawyers and notaries (Quebec), providing unparalleled learning and mentorship opportunities.

Student volunteers are recruited annually in late August or early September and undergo training on PBSC’s policies, intersectionality, anti-oppression and inclusive practices, and other specialized topics prior to commencing their placements in October.*
